Job Description:

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager plans, organizes and guides the activities of the Manufacturing Engineering Department, Maintenance Department, Grinding Room (tool maintenance area) and Tool Room (fabrication area). The Manager is responsible for the performance and development of the Manufacturing Engineers, Maintenance Technicians, Grinding Technicians and Tool Room Machinists.
Monitors the manufacturing of all jobs for adherence to the company’s metrics for world class OEE (scrap, efficiency, availability) and safety.
Oversees the project planning for the expansion, modification and improvement of current production lines to meet the cost and delivery demands of Client’s customers. Actively participates on the launch team to ensure project tasks are accomplished according to planned delivery milestones and within project budgets.
Oversees the implementation of new and prospective product launches, following through on their development from prototype to full production.
Oversees the facility and equipment repair and preventive maintenance scheduling activities of the maintenance department.
Leads the development and improvement activities for facility and equipment preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
Leads engineering and development negotiations with new and potential customers and suppliers.
Assists the Sales and Quoting departments to evaluate the manufacturing feasibility and investment return on potential new products or existing product revisions.
Assists the Quality Assurance Department on all PPAP submissions for new products and changes to current products.
Supervises and leads staff of Manufacturing Engineers, Maintenance Technicians, Grinding Room Technicians and Tool Room Machinists including responsibilities such as staffing, training, development, task prioritization and performance management.
Oversees the maintenance and control of CNC cutting programs as well as machine PLC and robot control programs.
Creates annual department spending budgets – monitors and approves department requisition spending to ensure operation within budget plans.
Manages the ECR (Engineering Change Request) change management system. Observes plant activities for adherence to company standards for documenting process modifications.
Oversees the inventory management and qualification process of Master Tooling.

B.S. in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering
Minimum 10 years of experience in manufacturing and engineering in a machining environment – experience in automation/robotics a plus
Strong analytical, associative and cognitive reasoning abilities
Well developed interpersonal skills. Ability to get along with diverse personalities
Ability to establish credibility and to be decisive while recognizing and supporting the organization’s preferences and priorities
Experience in a management capacity in the manufacturing field
Strong verbal and written communication skills – can present both technical and non-technical information in a professional group environment
Possess a general understand basic statistical data interpretation
Must possess a strong understanding of reading and interpreting blueprint requirements and GD&T information
Strong understanding of basic inspection and testing concepts as they pertain to GD&T requirements
Familiarity with the AIAG standards for Advanced Product Quality Process (APQP) and Pre-Production Approval Process (PPAP)
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and 2D or 3D modeling (Solidworks & AutoCAD preferred)
Familiarity with general industry OSHA standards
