Job Description:

The Project Engineering Manager is responsible for engineering, design and construction of approved projects in a lead engineering role. The Project Engineering Manager also provides input to the Development Engineering team in during the development phase of projects and provides technical expertise to Operations during the operational phase of projects.

Activities in these capacities include: input into preliminary design and feasibility during project development: engineering, construction support and commissioning activities associated with the construction of new renewable energy projects; and technical evaluation and design support for operating projects. This individual will be responsible for managing the engineering scope (single or multiple disciplines) of one or more approved projects. Engineering scope may include, but not be limited to, the following: geotechnical engineering, foundation designs, road layout and design, stormwater management, erosion and sedimentation controls, grading and drainage, substation physical arrangement, controls and protection, overhead and underground electrical lines (medium voltage to high voltage) and communications systems. The person in this position will manage internal and external resources to achieve results while coordinating requirements and deliverables with multiple internal and external entities.

Manage engineering implementation, including: cost estimating, project scheduling, permit integration into project plans, engineering document control, and other activities necessary during engineering, construction, and operational phases of a project.
Serve as a member of the project management team which oversees all implementation activities for assigned renewable energy projects.
Provide assistance as needed to the Development Engineering team in project development, planning and design with Environmental & Permitting, Meteorology, Property and Transmission Interconnect teams.
Contribute to development and maintenance of design standards and criteria for project infrastructure.
Oversee quality aspects of engineering and construction, including ensuring compliance with design standards and accuracy of final documentation and test data.
Manage and provide oversight of external professionals who provide technical expertise and project support through development, design, construction, and operations.
Coordinate and maintain project documentation for due diligence review by an independent engineering firm.
Provide technical support to plant operations as may be required for project infrastructure, facilities and systems.
Ensure all relevant internal controls are followed and develops new controls as needed.
Experience and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a specific engineering discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum 8 years in project engineering and/or construction.
Minimum 3 years experience in a broad range of wind project or other power generation development, design, permitting, construction or operations.
Working knowledge of consulting services and construction contracts.
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
Ability to understand technical documentation related to renewable energy projects such as interconnection agreements, facilities studies, permitting documents, local codes and regulations, civil and electrical construction specifications.
Proficiency using personal computer tools such as MS Office, Word, Excel, Primavera, MS Project, Visio, AutoCad, SAP and other database managements systems.
Ability and willingness to travel 30-40% of the time.

Strong preference may be given to candidates with the following:
Professional Engineer (PE) Registration.
Advanced degrees in Engineering or Business.
Experience with electrical system modeling and proficiency in PSSE, PSLF, PSCAD, ETAP and/or EasyPower
NERC Compliance experience
