The Lead Asphalt Superintendent plans, directs and coordinates activities pertaining to asphalt preservation projects and assists the Operations Manager in daily operations. This position works highly independently with a large amount of supervisory responsibility. The Lead Asphalt Superintendent is responsible for scheduling, inspections, quality control, and job site safety.
Essential Functions:
Simultaneously manage daily operations and personnel throughout multiple asphalt projects.
Effectively train and develop crew members, including crew leaders, foremen, and superintendents.
Coordinate with project and operations managers to ensure projects are executed safely, on time and on budget.
Perform quality control duties and responsibilities regarding the work being performed.
Identify conflicts in project progress and communicate them to the project team for resolution.
Assist in employee performance management including issuing verbal and written warnings.
Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in asphalt projects; performs manual work in preparing surfaces for paving, repairing or sealing.
May perform other duties as directed by the Operations Manager.
Requirements:
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to meet physical demands with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must hold a valid driver’s license, and pass a background check, drug test, and motor vehicle check.
Physical Demands:
The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. Days and hours may vary depending on the size and nature of the project. This position frequently requires long hours and weekend work.
