Summary:
Directs and coordinates Engineering activities for team inclusive of (but not limited to) the Management of its Engineering and Design Group as well as oversight of Controls and Electrical to design, manufacture, and test products, and systems by performing the following duties personally or through other employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. (Other duties may be assigned)
Ensures Engineering Department goals and objectives and Fiscal Responsibilities are met.
Reviews and makes recommendations on policies and procedures to maximize departmental operating performance.
Develops and justifies evaluation, quality, and process criteria while identifying technical issues of future importance.
Defines appropriate technical approaches and solutions to the most mission critical challenges.
Directs department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.
Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
Advises management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations.
Provides direction and example for interpretation and application of company policies and procedures to the engineering activities.
Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises 5 - 8 employees in the Engineering Group. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assist with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 2+ years of demonstrated leadership abilities required

Education and/or Experience
Engineering Degree (BSME) from a University Program, or four-year technical degree from a college or university, with two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Or 10+ years in related experience.

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Design software including, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical; Internet software; Manufacturing software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. Familiar with RS 5000 (Studio 5000 vs 28) PLC Programming software and Panelview Plus/FactoryTalk View 8.2 HMI programming software
