Job Description:


Prepare estimates and proposals for fire protection systems including fire sprinkler, fire
alarm, gaseous agent suppression, detection and air breathing systems.
Essential Job Functions
Thoroughly review and understand requirements from project and customer documents to
reduce risk and capture all costs.
Ability to read plans and develop estimates from detailed packages and develop estimates
from minimal information.
Prepare detailed material, labor, design, and equipment cost estimates in response to RFP,
RFQ or customer request.
Provide written scope of services in response to RFP, RFQ, or customer request.
Prepare preliminary layouts drawings, calculations and other documents as needed.
Provide customer and in house technical support to sales personnel on fire alarm, fire
sprinkler and suppression detection, and mass notification.
Work closely with the electrical/mechanical engineering staff, Construction Manager,
project managers, Sales, and other internal and external customers.
Perform job walks to determine scope and method of installation.
Attend meetings with and without sales personnel at customer locations.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to act in a sales capacity.

Qualifications
Education and

Experience:


A minimum of three (5) years experience in the fire protection, petrochemical, oil refinery
or related industry. Must have experience in Project Costing Methods. Must be able to
travel and have a reliable and acceptable form of transportation. Must be able to obtain
TWIC card and pass any required safety testing to include classes such as Basic Plus,
OSHA 10 hour, etc. NICET Level III and other certifications in fire protection a plus.
Other Required Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook and other data
base software. Proficiency in AutoCAD (2009) and/or AutoCAD MEP.
Must demonstrate commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, an

Must possess high ethical standards demonstrated by their approach to business.

Must demonstrate leadership and the ability to coordinate resources to achieve maximum
profitability, efficiency and utilization.
Must be able to prepare accurate, effective, complete and easily understood written
communications and reports.
Proficiency in the care and use of all site specific, facility and customer required Personal
Protection Equipment (PPE). Trained in Respiratory Protection and fully certified to wear
respiratory breathing equipment (Fit Tested).
Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume
additional or new responsibilities readily.
Initiative: Uses initiative to identify and act on opportunities to improve results or
minimize problems. Persists in problem solving efforts and in handling issues swiftly and
effectively.
Interpersonal Communications: Effective communication (written, verbal and listening)
and interpersonal skills. Ability to read, interpret, and create technical procedures, safety
rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to
effectively interact with and develop and maintain strong rapport and credibility with
senior management in company and client organizations. Ability to speak effectively
before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to speak Spanish, or other
second language considered a plus.
Complexity of Duties and Decisions: Determines the means or process of achieving the
objectives, standards or guidelines established by management. These decisions are subject
to the limits imposed by the available technology and resources and to the constraints set
by upper management. Must be prepared to handle a variety of situations in changing
environments. Must identify source of problems and present well thought out, workable
solutions

Scope and Responsibility: Typically works with limited supervision. In consultation with
manager, develops deadlines, projects, and work to be done. Assistance is given with
unusual situations that do not have clear objectives. Plans and carries out successive steps
and resolves problems and deviations in accordance with instructions, policies, and
accepted practices.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk;
and stoop, kneel, or crouch. Uses hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and
arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must
occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this
job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment
Combination of office, shop, indoor and outdoor industrial environments. May be
frequently exposed to cold, hot, wet, humid, outside weather conditions, and vibration.
Works in customer environment. May be exposed to high pressure, chemicals, and traffic.
The noise level in work environment is usually moderate.
