The growth in temporary employment can be seen as an indicator that more jobs that are permanent are going to be lined up. According to the data released by the Economic Modeling Specialists International’s (EMSI) labor market database there were more than 2.9 million U.S. workers holding temporary jobs in 2013, which is an increase of about 28% since 2010. Another study carried on by Career Builder and Harris Poll found that 42% of employers have plans to hire temporary or contract workers in 2014 that is up from 40% the previous year. Among them, about 43% are planning to transition some temporary workers into permanent staff positions. These statistics support the intention of the companies to start investing in their own full time workforce as a way of testing through temporary workforce.
